
Fudgey Brownies
These are a family favorite. I grew up making these with my mom. My older brother would usually devour the entire pan by the next evening. If you did not get some early, they would all be gone! These brownies are super easy to make and absolutely delicious!
Ingredients
Brownies
- 2 1/2 blocks High quality semi-sweet chocolate (10 oz)
- 3/4 cup Shortning
- 1 1/2 cups Sugar
- 1 cup Flour
- 3 Eggs
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Baking powder
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
Icing
- 16 oz Powdered Sugar (sifted)
- 3/4 stick Butter (melted)
- 1 can Evaporated milk (5 oz)
- Dash Salt
- 5 tbsp Cocoa powder
Instructions
Brownies
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Combine shortning and chocolate in saucepan. Melt and set aside.
- Combine sugar, eggs, vanilla and cooled chocolate mixture.
- Add flour, salt, baking powder and stir.
- Pour into greased 9x13 pan.
- Cook for 20-25 mins until the toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool at room temperature while you make the icing.
Icing
- Combine melted butter, sifted powdered sugar, pinch of salt, and vanilla extract into mixing bowl on medium speed.
- Add in evaporated milk until the consistency of icing you prefer.
- Spoon over the cooled brownies and serve with a bit of powdered sugar or ice cream.
